Managing processes

After publishing a process, you can view details about a published process, compare published process versions, or republish a component version.

Viewing a published process' details

You can view additional details about a published process in the Publication History table.

  1. In the Process Library page, highlight a process in the Packaged Processes list.

The Publication History table is displayed.

  2. Click the Actions icon for the version whose details you want to display and select View Publication Details.

    The Publication Detail dialog opens.

The information includes the generated publication ID and whether any passwords that are specified within the process are included in the publication.

To close the Publication Detail dialog, click Close.

Comparing two publication versions

You can compare two publication versions to identify which components were modified, added, or removed between publications.

  1. In the Process Library page, click a component in the Packaged Processes list to view its publication history.

  2. Click Actions for the version that you want to compare and select Compare Publication.

The Compare Publication wizard opens with the selected version in the Selected Publication Version field.

  3. In the Compare Publication to field do one of the following:

    • Select Latest Revision in Development.

    • Select Another Publication Version and select a version number from the drop-down list.

  4. Click Compare.

The comparison results are displayed. Differences between the two publications are highlighted.

  5. To contact the user who last modified a specific component within either version of the publication, copy the email address in the Modified By field into a new email.

  6. To select a different version with which to compare, click Back and repeat steps 3 and 4.

When you are done comparing the two publications, click Close.

Republishing a publication version

You can effectively "roll back" a published version that has problems. You cannot delete a published version of a process; you can negate a published version only by publishing a new version or republishing a previous version.

note

Republishing a previous version does not roll back the current process configuration as you see it on the Build page. You must perform this step on the Build page through the process revision history.

  1. In the Process Library page, click the process you want to republish in the Packaged Processes list.

The Publication History table is displayed.

  2. Click Actions for the version that you want to republish and select Republish.

    note

The Republish option is only available for older versions of your published packages— the newest published version will not have this option.

    The Republish Package dialog opens.

  3. (Optional) To display information about the selected package version, click View Details.

  4. (Optional) In the Publication Description field, type a description of the publication.

  5. (Optional) If you want to include passwords, select Include passwords in publication. Any passwords that are specified within the process are included in the publication.

  6. (Optional) In the Publication Notes field, type internal notes describing the reason for republishing.

  7. Click Republish.

A newly published version appears in the Publication History table. The new version is identical to the version you selected in step 2; the new version negates the most recently published version. For example, if version 5 is the most recently published version and you republish version 4, a new version 6 will be published with the same process revisions as were in version 4.

In the Publication Notes column for the new version, the following appear, in order:

  • the reason for republishing that you typed in the Publication Notes field, if any

  • publication notes for the source version, if any
